In a world where all things need to be certain, we tend to overthink because we want to ensure that we would get the best path. While we can’t be all things and everywhere all at once, we are created by God in order in a certain way, a context of sorts. Now, it can be that we are in a context of the feeling of us being against the world, when all of our efforts seem to just go down into an abyss of nothing. We should lean closer to God during this time, because He is still the reason why we are here in the first place.
Individually, it starts to feel very draining, because we want to prove that we can and we are able to do certain things. We believe all things really are possible with God, provided we are given that capacity. While the tendency during this time is to look at what others are doing, we should be looking within ourselves for what God has designed us to be. Does this mean that we cannot go beyond what God has designed us to be, surely not right? But we can work on improving ourselves to a degree that matches the right environment or context. Think of it as big fish in a small pond and a small fish in a big pond context. We can feel small if we see ourselves through the bigger world, but bigger if we start to outgrow the environment that we are in. In both ways, we need to understand that growing strong doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to be grand; what matters is that we are constantly growing, because even constrained growth can still bring forth good fruit; it just needs to be placed where we would see its best value.
We should also always strive to do whatever it takes to improve our current situation, as part of our belief that hope is never lost. In our case as Christians, it is knowing who Jesus is and what that sacrifice means. In turn, we see ourselves through that same lens of not only sacrifice but also obedience. This repoints us to value our roots, as gratitude is truly the base value of this world. That is because through the work of others, we are able to experience what it means to live in the land of the living. Before we start moving our hearts into service, this involves knowing ourselves, in the perspective of both God and ourselves. Through this knowledge, are we then able to fully realize that we are alive because He gave part of Himself for us.
Matthew 22:39
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Finally, after knowing, we start to appreciate all the things that we have and are then able to reach out to those who need it. To give back to part of the life that we owe to the one who we owe all things. It takes a while to fully grasp this; it might even take a lifetime in order to do so; but overall, we should never lose sight of where our treasure is, for His treasure should also be our treasures both in heaven and on earth.
Matthew 6:20-21
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
