Numbers and Scripture
Some of the numbers or unique interpretations that I found in scripture. The said meanings that I have mentioned create a new dynamic way of reading scripture outside and inside the Bible. This can act as a small dictionary or way to memorize and resonate with scripture.
In my previous posts, I have mentioned numbers telling us about certain truths in scripture. It also makes scripture both timeless and adaptable to future narratives that might distort or give different meaning from what it really is about. This is a dynamic list and will update and adjust as I learn more.
One - 1
This number usually represents God. It is directly pointed up, signaling both Heaven and how we should put Him first in our lives. He is our bounds and the one that makes sure that we are always within His reach, similar to how it is represented in Psalm 51:10.
Two - 2
On a previous post regarding Psalm 55:22, 2 represents half a heart or hands lifted up in surrender or a child seeking to be held by the Father.
Three - 3
Similar to how 3 is represented as lips/mouth or blind eyes. It can also be read as a spirit or wind.
Four - 4
Four is represented as love or hate as in “143”, representing our love/hate relationship with the Father.
Five - 5
The most common representation of half a cup, an open palm. A cup is a symbol of a covenant/promise or good news as in Proverbs 25:25.
Six - 6
A stretched-out hand reaching out to the heavens seeking help or salvation as in Psalm 69:2.
Seven - 7
Representation of reaping or forgiveness as in forgiving 70 times 7 times.
Eight - 8
This is an alignment of God and man; if you could connect 6 and 9, it would form a perfect shape 8.
Nine - 9
This represents the Word of God as if a speech bubble in Psalm 119:11, or God reaching down from the heavens.
Zero - 0
Infinite or eternity, similar to what rings symbolize. Another thing that it can represent is completion or a full circle, or encompassing all. It can also represent void or emptiness.
This way of reading scripture is very new and unique to our senses. As numbers are part of daily life, it shows that God often speaks to us through different media like time or dates. The numbers also are used in things like cartoons and comics; it is simple and yet expressive in ways words cannot convey.
