The Meaning of True Peace

Peace isn’t something that should be achieved in death, as we are living and are part of the living God; peace should be something that we strive for, a direction that we should try to steer towards.

True peace is a difficult thought; it requires a lot of mental effort and could not be done by only one person. Yet, peace is first realized within the self, knowing that peace is even possible and knowing that there is only one way to peace. The interesting thing about it is that, even though we know that there is only one way to peace, we still try to persist on having our own way. Now, one would argue that Jesus is the only way, and true enough because if we truly come to know who Jesus is and what He has done for us, will His soul truly live in us. Wisdom 1:4

Our insistence on achieving peace without faith, in my honest thoughts, is not possible. Since only through God can we know that we are in fact created good. Matthew 7:18, without us understanding this fact, it would be hard to also comprehend that other people came into this world good. If we identify ourselves first with God, would the verse from Matthew 7:18 be fully realized. This also directly shows us the lens through which the perspective should be seen. A better acknowledgment for this would be 1 Corinthians 12:14-26, through which Paul emphasizes that we are one body and should accept the purpose of each part or role.

The peace of Christ is what is given to us, but what does it really mean? Isn’t peace the thing that is promoted by all religions, even when peace isn’t really present? While I can’t say what it is for other religions, what I can say for certain is that through scripture we can see how hopeful God is. He had hope in us and the future of the people enough to give up part of Himself, which is in Christ. If we indeed believe that He knew us even before we were born, and He has laid out all these things throughout scripture. Only then would we see His hope for humanity, that it would be more than it was before, not in terms of progress but rather in the simple things like love for neighbor, life, and faith in Him.

The world at hand is at a very odd transition. On one hand, there is a lot of progress that is happening; on the other, it seems to be regressing in other aspects. This is evident as we start to see pockets of chaos in certain areas. Given that we are aware of our surroundings and the problems surrounding us, shouldn’t we start seeking for the right answers and promoting it in the right light? A direct validation of the purpose and proof that we have in God.
