Melancholy
As we walk through the journey of faith, we gain a greater insight into what it is like to know God, the day-to-day communion of our lives with Him. Sometimes we can’t help but lament seeing how distant we have become from God.
Lord God, help me to speak your truth, Lord.
When your voice is drowned in a sea of lies,
increase my understanding and knowledge of You, Lord.
Help me keep my feet on solid ground.
Reprove my heart so it does not grow cold.
Words without life keep rushing to my head.
Immerse me in your wonders that I may not forget.
Let this melancholy pass me, as though it is death that knocks at my heart.
Like your gentle stream, let the words of your life flow from this void.
Only your power can overcome the other,
so continuously renew this vessel, Lord God.
